Hello all,
In theory another 'quick' post as Rosa is probably about to wake at any moment.
After a lovely weekend with nearests and dearests in the sunshine we both feel quite refreshed and positive. God sunshine helps! As does Rosa having an overall pretty good weekend away and lovely super happy day yesterday. It was our first session back at nursery after the Easter break and she was delighted. Unfortunately Nicola wasn't there but she had a great session with Sally the physio. She fitted her for one of the specialist highchairs at Highfield so she can get a bit used to being in a chair before we get one at home, in theory one of the reps will come and assess her, probably at home on May 19th. Sally also took a photo of her in it so when the nurses are using it they can remind themselves of all the settings, it seems to be infinately alterable! Sally talked again about some sort of standing frame for Rosa to try in the next little while as she does bear weight quite well on her legs, she gave us a tiny sturdy pair of boots for her to practice in as they will help her to stand correctly from the start, apparently when she gets her frame she'll get her own boots and we can choose the colour, G reckons every girl has to have a pair of red boots!
The speech and language therapy lady also came to see her, for some reason she is the only one of all the therapists and team we have met who slightly puts my back up, I'm not even sure why, something about her manner, a hint of home economics teacher there perhaps. Although I have only met her twice very briefly so I am probably being a bit unfair and will try and reserve judgement a bit longer! Also at this stage I don't think she has much of a role to play she may turn out to be brilliant later, who knows.
We also got our appointments through for the eye clinic so we have to assume that she hasn't been tested for long sightedness and they will do so on May 22nd in theory, it is a double appointment so I don't know if they'll also be testing for anything else.
Portage and music therapy start tomorrow big exciting day! I'm actually really looking forward to this afternoon because G is going to take Rosa out so I can have a bit of time to myself, it was ace last tuesday 3 whole hours and I think they had a lovely time too. He says he's really looking forward to it. Of course there are 10 million things I want to do but its so nice to just have a moment, even if I just sit in my shed and listen to REALLY loud music!
Rosa also seems to be getting incrementally better at drinking from a cup, not a baby cup but a proper one, an awful lot of it gets on her but I think more of it is getting in her than was. She is also so much less needy of boob when she is on good form, makes it easier to imagine one day not doing it. I'm not in a rush but I certainly don't want to end up being one of those extreme feeders!
On that note; thats about it for now. The garden is stunning at the moment and provides us with new treats daily, the apple blossom is just coming out and smells heavenly. There is a carpet of primroses, bluebells and daisys and most of our seeds are now up...all very pleasing.
Thank you all again again for your persistant loveliness, more soon A xxx
Hoorah - I'm in! I cleverly had an existing G-Mail (Gareth mail?) account. Lovely to hear all your news and keep up with Rosa's exploits - is it music tomorrow? I hope Rosa puts in a star turn!
ReplyDeleteMuch love and kisses to all from Rich, Rach, Joe and Freddie xxxxx
