Happy Birthday dear sweet Rosa. For the first time in what feels like forever we did have a pretty good day, it actually got better as we went on and ended beautifully. Thank goodness as we have all been a bit low the last little while.
Rosa hasn't been 100% (still mostly teeth I think, number 6 almost through!) and as soon as she goes off form G and I do struggle particularly as bedtimes have been screaming ordeals for about a week which leaves us exhausted and sad at the end of each day. We tell ourselves its just teeth, a phase, happy Rosa will be back soon but it is so hard, in so many different ways, fears surface and frustration and feelings of inadequacy and incompetence and unfounded as they may be the longer the shouty Rosa phase lasts the more all the negatives take hold. It is such a relief to see a glimpse of our precious happy girly breaking through again, we miss her so much when she is away, and what a treat for it to be on her birthday. We had a busy day, which started a bit earlier than we would have chosen with a very shouty tooth achey babe but after a while, 2 weetabix and boob she felt much better and was up for opening some cards and pressies, thank you very much for the lovely things and thoughts you sent. She had a brief nap in our bed during which G and I tried to completely makeover her bedroom for her birthday pressie, about 95% done we think, we like it very much! She woke up fairly ready for Helen, our portage worker to come and play and had a pretty good session, she seems to be quite a fan of the Night Garden, who knew?! It was swiftly followed by jingly jangly music therapy with Simon, it went really well again, in theory they are going to video three of the ten sessions for us to keep so hopefully we'll be able to post it to give you an idea of what we get up to there. We popped home to pick up supplies and for Rosa to have a power nap and then jumped in the van and drove over to Saunton to have supper with an endless view of calm hazy sea. Rosa scarfed her supper and had a great time squirming around and grinning, she is such a natural camper! Home for blissy bedtime Yay! Happy happy Birthday!
It has been really hard lately to feel like celebrating; of course we want to and will, (birthday party on Sat.) determinedly but such a heavy sadness has been pressing down on us it is the last thing we have been feeling like. A day like today was so what we needed to revive us all, and get geared up for lots of lovelies visiting at the weekend. It is so hard to write comprehensively as I find it very difficult to write at all when I'm down but hopefully all the vital stuff filters through. I think progress is being made through all of these therapy's and we are growing with Rosa. Our first hydro session on Thursday was fab and we are really looking forward to that again tomorrow. Also trying, just about managing to fit a bit of work around all this. Our new trade list is finally coming together and work for Appledore is not entirely at concept stage anymore!
We are SO looking forward to having a holiday, we are going on a road trip through mid June up to the Highlands its going to be bliss and we can't wait!
Anyway, its late again.
more soon, A
P.S. please do comment, its everso nice to know you're out there! x

  1. Hi Amy, Gareth and Happy Birthday Rosa! We can't believe a year has gone by.. I read your blogs regularly and feel for you all. But I can see how you are hanging on to all those little, precious moments & events and they are obviously giving you strength. The team of helpers/therapies etc sound good - take as much as you can and remember to have time out for yourselves. Thinking of you and sending you warm hugs and lots of love.
